An artwork can evoke a feeling or emotion that may be difficult to put into words. This Totem assemblage, created from recycled materials and found objects, is a work of joy. The elements create a very pleasing and almost meditative sound when rustled by wind. A teatab prayer skirt, cyanotype dream catcher and ritualistic knotting throughout are nods to various cultural and spiritual practices. Broken jewelry of the ex-voto heart is given new purpose; the bread tabs are a nod to our daily bread. The Totem as a whole brings joy and focus the mind and heart.
